Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Dear all, when we think about the Day of Judgement, the first scenario that pops up instantly in our minds and saddens us is that we will not recognise our family members and beloved ones. Parents will abandon their children, spouses will not see their partners for who they used to take a huge toll on in worldly life, and brothers and sisters will not be in a position to hug each other anymore. In a nutshell, people will be in distant positions. It is not likely that they will forget each other. Rather than thinking about what is happening, it will make them unmindful. We will all be saying, “Ya Nafsi, Ya Nafsi!” If we ponder the situation for a moment, we can see that we have passed such a stage, definitely not with the intensity of Judgement Day. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we did get distant from our family members and beloved ones. We were all isolated. But, Alhamdulillah, Allah has taken us out of the crisis. Allah gave us a slight taste of what we will face inevitably. We will be isolated in the field of Hashr too. Remembering this, how can we still be overriding Allah’s ﷻ decree and engaging in any prohibited activity? We tried to shed some light on such issues below.

1. Engaging in any promiscuous activity wastes people’s time.

Allah has sworn by time in various places in the Qur’an [Surah Asr, Surah Fajr, Surah Lail, etc.].And Prophet ﷺ said in the hadith, “Many people are deceived about two blessings (they are two), health and leisure (time) [Bukhari, Tirmidhi]”.

2. Music is clearly forbidden in Islam and listening to it spoils the flavor of worship

“The Prophet ﷺ said in the hadith: There will be a group of people among my Ummah who will consider zina, silk, wine, and musical instruments lawful’. (Sahih Bukhari, 5590)”. That is, using musical instruments is a haram act.

3. Islam prohibits mixing of men and women.

The Prophet ﷺ said to men: Stay away from entering women. (Bukhari, Muslim)Another hadith says: Indeed, it is better for you to drive an iron nail into someone’s head than to touch a woman who is not lawful for him. (Tabarani: 20/212)

4. People waste a huge amount of money in these types of prohibited actions.

A question will be asked of the people on the field of Hashr (the final judgement day): “From which way was the wealth earned and where was it spent?” (Sunan at-Tirmidhi: 2417)Directly participating in haram activities is clearly haram. Also, giving money without physically participating in it is Haraam too.

5. Strict prohibition has been imposed in Islam on the consumption of intoxicants

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Every intoxicant is wine and all wine is haram” [Muslim, Mishkat: 3638].

The Prophet ﷺ also said, “Do not drink alcohol. For it is the key to all evil deeds.” [Ibn Majah: 3371]

May Allah grant us the ability to stay on the right path that we always pray for when we recite the Fatiha every time we perform salah and grant us strength to stay away from all acts of sin, especially the ones that are on display to the masses, as they have a huge negative impact on ourselves and our peers.
